Information overload for trustees is a growing issue for pension systems. In the interest of transparency, trustees are often overwhelmed with too much information. The challenge is to provide trustees with the most relevant and insightful information in a useful and understandable format, especially when it comes to performance and risk.

The Board Smart webinar enabled participants to hear from pension system leaders about exception reporting, balanced scorecards, dashboards, and other interactive tools used to strengthen board oversight while enabling the board to focus on the most important issues and decisions.

  • Defining vital signs for retirement functions

  • Tracking expected performance versus actual performance

  • Setting tolerances of variability/risk

  • Using exception-based reporting
